Degussa and Auriga Announce Strategic Agreement

Degussa and US pharmaceutical company Auriga Laboratories have agreed on an alliance to treat inflammatory gastrointestinal diseases. Utilization of Degussa's proprietary EUDRACOLTM technology will improve drug dosing and allow more efficient delivery of the drug in the gastrointestinal tract. Auriga is developing an oral, controlled-release corticosteroid formulation that targets inflammatory bowel diseases. Degussa will provide the proprietary drug delivery technology, EUDRACOL^TM. Drug delivery to specific disease sites within the gastrointestinal tract is essential for the creation of improved pharmacological treatments. Only utilization of EUDRACOL^TM ensures that the corticosteroid is released precisely where it is needed in the gastrointestinal tract. This guarantees proper dosage and optimum efficacy while reducing side effects.
