Goals and Ongoing Improvements

Degussa's Environmental, Safety, Health and Quality Policy sets out the overall goals and principles for all ESHQ-related activities in the Group. General corporate goals are derived from these - either directly or indirectly. The zero targets represent a vision that Degussa strives to achieve in the long term.

Suitable controlling tools are used in this endeavor to support the process for assessing conditions, comparing targets with the actual situation and, if appropriate, taking corrective action.

To integrate ESHQ goals into the ongoing improvement process of Degussa’s ESHQ performance, Degussa specifies these goals further for day-to-day operations and assigns them in a decentralized manner, from the Business Units down to the site level. Furthermore, the first specific long-term USGQ reduction targets have been formulated for a ten-year period for the whole of Degussa, with 2004 as the base year.
